…and this is where I’ve ended up:

Why your existential issues could be worse: you could be that yellow guy.
Near the bottom left corner is Washington, DC; the scope of civilization in this entire area for all of Freshman year. It still contains my church, the office I work for, the vast majority of my friends, and the most convenient Trader Joe’s I know of (and as my roommate knows too well, without my almost-vegetarian, organic diet, I slowly start to starve). Summerfield Blvd is roughly where I live now, in Prince George’s County, MD. The move went really well, and it is wonderful to live in an adult apartment as opposed to a dorm. Some things remain the same; the presence of an XBox, for instance. But, the notion of controllers snaking across the living room floor is no longer conceivable. The difference between a 21-year-old college student and a 21-year-old graduate is a clean living room floor.
On Sunday, my roommate and I spent a few hours in this charming Jeep Cherokee shown below, dating back to the era of the cassette-deck being revolutionary. Not that one could tell, because it had been ripped out by thieves, who had also broken all the locks on the vehicle. The steering wheel had a nasty gash in the middle (the result of the airbag deploying once… and never being replaced), and a tendency to lurch to the right when driving down the freeway, no doubt the result of vindictive, restless souls from some hit and run many years ago. It was my first time driving on a US freeway (I’d driven on long, fast roads before, but doing so in a country with road rules was new). The experience can only get better from this point on!
My roommate and I are both well moved in, and the place looks beautiful. The area itself is our apartment complex and land that is being developed out of empty space; so everything is new. And ‘everything’ is a very relative term, as there is not a lot here yet – but we have a pool, lots of green space, and a huge couch, TV and movies. If anyone who lives in near a metro-station (and presumably knows us) is reading this, it is definitely worth visiting us.
